Yes, we have hit a milestone. I like to think I am an amazing wife because I took on this task while Scott was in Australia, but honestly I needed something to do while he was gone for a week. Even though B has been using the bathroom when directed for months, he and I still have a love for Pampers. Yet, the frugal side of me and the reality that B was ready, pushed me to take the next step. I did a program called, "Potty Training In a Day." The idea is to have a full day fully focused on potty training. B is given lot to drink and eat and then every 15 minutes goes into the bathroom. It's a LONG day, but if it's organized, planned out and effective, I'm always in.
The night before I set up all the items I thought I would need. *Yes, it's important to have things for parents too during this process!
I started the morning well.
B ate a healthy breakfast before I loaded him with other treats.
We got the undies on and started our day. He was immediately excited about the race track I got him.
Before you look at the next picture and think this track just appeared it took B and I over an hour to create.
*Note to Family and Friends*
I'm VERY bad at putting things together. Apparently my sister got all the brains in that department. Any future gifts might turn out better if they are assembled prior to opening. This track took WAY too long!
Toys are always better when shared, so Tank joined in.
B wanted to hold Tank.
To make up for almost strangling Tank, he decided to share his prized car with him.
Sorry Tank!
Remember EVERY 15\ minutes my alarm would sound, thus we switched activities often after using the bathroom.
Let me take a moment to say that I bought a lot of candy and salty things for B to eat. Also I had 6 different things for him to drink. All he wanted was water and his normal snacks. No Sprite, lollipops, Skittles, or chocolate milk for this kid. Strangely enough the other items disappeared.......
Too cute!
Through out the day we explored all the underwear. He changed it often, just for make them all feel loved.
Baby enjoyed some painting time, even though she got a bit decorated in the process.
He loves being with her.
I love how he is mimicking her! :)
"Titties, these are by big boy underwear."
Since we were hitting a lull right before lunch I brought out my secret weapon: watermelon!! He LOVES it, plus its filled with liquid, which serves my purpose well.
Upon getting up B wanted to spend time with the kittens again. Yes, he is my son. :)
Showing them the 'goods'
I love the kittens in this random picture.
Baby
Kingston
It wouldn't be Brayden unless there was some baseball involved. And yes, he chose to put shoes on to dress up a bit.
Another way to push the liquids in!
Can I just tell you that every 15 minutes going to the bathroom got pretty old by the afternoon.
Yeah, he was pretty cool all day. No accidents!
That night my cousin Kristin came over and joined in our fun. B got to show off his new skills.
Washing his hands all by himself.
Searching for a treat after using the potty. (That I why I wore an apron all day.) M&Ms were the choice most the time, but I'd sneak some Hershey kisses in there from time to time. All the fruit candy he didn't even want to try.
After over 12 hours, over 48 trips to the bathroom, and no accidents B was ready to wear his big boy undies out of the house. (Well, the next day that is.)
I apologize in advance if we come over and B pees on your floor. If it does happen it's only fair that you come over and pee on ours.
