Camping - hard core, like with a tent

We love hanging out with a dear college friend, Niki and her family. This was our first ever camping trip with them, and our first camping trip with our own camping equipment. I was hoping to keep everyone alive, and in doing so I called that a successful camping trip.
I bought a tent, a huge tent. You will see........
Before you think I didn't help, I did. But, someone had to take a picture of the huge tent.
Yes, it was big enough for 3 kids t o dance in.
Yes, it was the Taj Mahal of tents.

This is a view of the extra apace we had after the beds were in.
(Note, my husband packed a duvet cover and fitted sheet for his sleeping arrangements. B and I had sleeping bags. Who didn't grow up camping?...)

Camping fun!!!
This is B's first time roasting marshmallows on his own

Rocco and B have been buddies since this....

Where we were camping at Seaquest had wonderful logs for kids to fall off of and break a bone to play on.

Eliana is a huge help. I think it's because they go way back.....
(Yes, Brayden is vomiting on Mike.....)

E and I have a special bond. I adore her and want to have a little girl like her one day!
(She and I go way back.)

We decided to go hiking around St. Helens.

I know what you are thinking, they are the most beautiful family. It's true.

Tessa woke from her nap just in time to go hiking with the rest of us.
Models, right?

B had never been on a 2 mile hike. He proved to be pretty bad at it. Look at his face. He was done after 1/4 a mile. Good thing Scott loves hiking with kids on his shoulders.
Okay, so B rallied from time to time.

Tessa even joined the fun!

We got to a look out point, which was pretty amazing.

That night we had a pretty good foil dinner and roasted hot dogs for the kids.
Remember when.......
The kids made banana boats for the fire and dessert.

Oh yeah, and s'mores!

How cute is this?
I just love these kids.
They were sad to leave, but had a great trip.
This was a great trip. We loved our time. The kids loved being dirty and playing in the woods with each other. We all came out alive, so I find this camping trip to be a huge success.
(For the record, the duvet cover camping didn't work so well. Scott got really cold, and wanted to share my sleeping bag. This city slicker is learning some camping skills, slowly but carefully.)
