Who needs a bum kidney anyways?

Since B was 15 weeks in utero we knew that his right kidney wasn't great. It has never worked and recently has been creating really high blood pressure. So, it was time to part ways and say goodbye.

B was given a choice between three animals to have once we arrived at the hospital.. He looked at them, and then asked the volunteer if she had a kitty. Lucky for B, she went back and found one.
3.5 hours after surgery B was out and ready to be brought back to his room. He hated the IVs, so I asked my mom to grab some mittens. It covered his hand, and kept it very cozy.
Promptly after seeing Gaga, B threw up all over. Nice.

In this hospital there is a lot of waiting time.
 So we read books.
B napped.

Aunt Judy brought over an epic balloon. To this day he still loves it and talks about it.

Scott's work decided to show some love to B.

Mickey and Papa gave B some art supplies.

Gaga and Island Man got him a fish, Bubbles, to help him have a fast recovery.

Scott made ramps and shot cars at him.
1 kidney Brayden!

His litter of kitties.

The next day the epidural was out and he could walk around.

But he needed Dad's help a lot.

He got a Cars game pack from Scott's work. It was amazing!!

Nap time again!

This time he had to have his car to sleep.

After 1.5 days we were ready to leave! Or in B's case float away with balloons.

We are so thankful for all the prayers and calls. Despite this being a hard situation, we have felt B has been the best case scenario for the whole procedure.

Because all the gifts made such a huge difference when it came to entertaining and distracting Brayden, we decided for the holidays to go get toys for sick kids. This activity was very dear to by both of us.

Fall

Happy Fall!
Okay, I'm a bit delayed, but due to a few 'set backs' I'm just glad to be breathing and have a moment to blog.
Our 10th annual Corn Maze Party was a great time to host our first party in our new house. It was a small gathering, but really fun.

I'm thrilled to report the weather was too wet to go outside in the pitch black and drippy weather. So the adults grabbed our socks, (some their personal bowling balls,) and we headed to the warm bowling alley.

I am in love with having a backyard. Sure the spiders scare me, the leaves never stop falling, there is a HUGE puddle where the yard slopes down, and I have learned I'm not really a gardener. HOWEVER I love moments like these where B can go play outside and be a kid.

He loves to 'help' Dada.
Okay, melt my heart.......
For Halloween B was Nemo, lucky fin and all. Nana come over to see him in her costume.
He wasn't sure what was going on.
Island Man came to see B all dressed up too!

Some of our favorite friends came over to go trick or treating with us!
(I know, I love Lucy's pony costume too!!)
I know this picture looks like us moms just stayed in the back and drank 'water' from mugs....
But in fact we were doing that and talking too!
Yes, we did do a few doors with the kids as well.

To be safe Katie and I wore glow in the dark masks so as not to get us/our families run over. Apparently they worked.

Since we love and spend so much time with the Trihub family, B thinks he's part of their family picture.

We had such a wonderful Fall. As Lucy and  B would say to everyone "Happy Halowee!"
