Cousin Susan comes to town

My cousin Susan came down from Chicago for a whirlwind visit over the weekend. We like to think it's because we are here, but the fact her daughter is living here for the summer also helps. :)

We have been really lucky to have Susan's daughter, Kristin, here for the summer. She comes and keeps me company some evenings and also watches B from time to time.

Saturday morning we headed to the Children's Museum for some hot wheel fun!

Brayden screamed in delight and he ran into the exhibit. I think he thought died and went to heaven.

He was so thrilled to try all the ramps and cars.

With Scott's help he was able to do the huge wall mounted ramp.

After Scott made an AMAZING steak dinner, and a few glasses of wine were consumed, we headed to our local 'idee' place for some dessert. Brayden was bummed to learn they don't carry blue ice cream right now. He was thrilled to learn about things called sprinkles. They come in all different colors!

And yes, B did eat more ice cream than the three of us combined.

We were reluctant to let Susan go.

Over lunch he was giving her the 'don't go' eyes.

The good news is Kristin isn't gone yet!

Steve's Surprise Birthday!

Kama spent months planning Steve's surprise 40th birthday. She did a wonderful job planning and getting all their friends and family there. We Roths needed an excuse of why we were coming down and we also needed Steve out of the house for a few hours to prepare. Scott and a few other guys created a softball reunion/playoff. About 10 years ago Scott played softball for a team called Showmes, a knock off of Hooters. (Yes, that's not made up folks.) Since their glory days on the field some of the players have gone to the Hooters team. On June 23rd an epic battle was created between old team Showmes and the current Hooters team. My question was would guys actually show up?

The answer is yes!!!

Mickey and Dan used to go to all of Steve's games. Mind you these are all rec games of Steve's when he was in his 20s and 30s. So of course you can't have a softball game without them there cheering!

Sienna and B were mighty cute playing their own game of softball.

But one can only play so much baseball before filling shoes with gravel.

TJ came by to support the team. Mike was there too, however someone got shot and policeman Mike had to go investigate. These are almost all of Scott's groomsmen!

Since our wedding everyone has multiplied. Tony has 2 boys not here and a baby girl on the way.

Once the game was over the boys headed for wings, of course!

While the rest of us when to hustle to get the house ready. Thankfully Kama has some friends and family already setting up before we got there.

B sure loves his Papa. (As you can tell by his amazing smile here.)

Dirt Day cake for everyone!!!

The party was a huge success! Many people came from all over to celebrate Steve!

The next morning we went over to visit TJ's newest baby Maddy. She couldn't have been any sweeter!

After some baby Maddy time we went over to Scott's parents house. We spent some time with all the family before taking the 5.5 hour drive home.

VBS

For a week I volunteered at our Church's VBS. There were over 1,000 kids there to learn more about God. It was so well planned out and was really fun. Because I volunteered B got to go to his own VBS. This was the first week of his life that he had to get up 'early' all week and was in a structured environment for 3.5 hours a day.

He had so much fun! He was also extremely tired daily!

Since we were the C group the girls decided that we should be the cheetah group. They brought Cheetah stuff in for us to wear all week long.

It was such a joy to be leading 5th grade girls again! It was a big commitment, but one I'd gladly sign up for again!

3rd Father's Day

As you can imagine Father's day needed to wings. Scott and I went out to dinner the night before Father's Day so he could try a new restaurant. The wings were pretty good.

After church Scott got to lay by the pool as B napped. Once B got up then it was family time at the pool.

After dinner we headed to Scott's favorite ice cream place, Handles.

 Brayden loved celebrating Father's Day!!!

Random Odds and Ends

We have been on the go all summer long. I can't believe it's July already!! Here is a little of what we have been up to.....

Village of West Clay carnival.

B was brave and got a spider on his arm.

He and I did the cupcake walk.

He won!

Here is the birth of the really strange smile he's adopted. It's really funny to Scott and I.

That evening was a concert on the lawn. Scott loved the fried chicken picnic he packed.

B loved playing soccer with Adi. They are really sweet together.

Every Monday we go to Gymboree art class.

We went to the Indy Zoo

We met up with Grace, which we always love!!!

This zoo has a splash pad, which made one soggy boy on the ride home.

We went to Bennet Clark's baseball game. B wanted to play, of course!

Instead he got to hang with the other Clark boys, Harrison and Max.

To say Brayden is in a car phase is an understatement.

It's been so blazing hot here. We spend a lot of time in the pool. The weather man just said, "It's the hottest June day that any alive Hoosier has experienced." And just think, we are living here to experience it.

I asked him his bear's name, he replied 'Meatball.'

This is something I had to document. We go to Gymboree play and music on Fridays. At the end of the program they do a song and all the kids 'go to sleep.' Everyone is on the mat except B.....

He likes to 'sleep' in purple tubes. It always cracks me up.

Now you can see why June is flying by!
